Everyday Athlete
With Chicago North Shore Kinetics Owner Kay Min
Thursdays 4:00PM-5:00PM, Sundays 2:00PM-3:00PM
What’s this class all about?
We will be tapping into your inner athlete by using equipment such as free weights, kettlebells, weight plates, barbells, pull-up bars, TRXs, medicine balls, sled, etc. and most importantly, your bodyweight. Our focus will be on appropriate loading to develop strength, create explosive power and drive rotational forces. Attention to form and technique will be paramount to optimal and healthy joints, muscles, bones, and nervous system.
We will always start these 60 minute classes with mobility warm-ups for about 10-15 min (these are not necessarily easy stretches, some are quite a bit of work!), then move into lower body, upper body, trunk (aka “core”) stability, rotation, loading in a circuit style and possibly some cardiovascular segments (hello jumping!!) and a quick cool-down.
Who is this class for?
As the name—Everyday Athlete—suggests, this class is ideal for those who engage in a somewhat consistent workout routine or play a sport or two. You are comfortable moving your body in multiplanar directions, putting it under load, varying your cadence and open to trying new things!
