MOBILITY STRENGTH
with Sarah Laspas, Strength, Mobility & Gait Specialist.
Get stronger, move easier, and just feel… free-er — whether you're at the gym, wrangling kids, tackling stairs, or hiking through Colombia.
About This Class
A house is only as strong as its frame, and same goes for your body. Sure, muscle building is important (and of course looks nice), but only to the extent that your joints (and tendons. AND ligaments) can support it.
Enter Mobility Strength — your one-stop shop for stronger muscles and healthier joints.
That joint half of the equation? That's where mobility comes in. And no, it's not about touching your toes (and, also no, I won't make you do the splits) — it's about building real strength and control through all ranges of motion, so your body stops compensating and you can stay safe
Every class is built the same way: about 20 minutes of targeted mobility work, then straight into 30 minutes of real strength training — squats, deadlifts, presses, pulls — the whole toolbox. That first 20 minutes isn't a warm-up you're waiting to get through, it's priming whatever you're about to lift. Squat day? Expect some ankle opening and hip external rotation work. Overhead presses on the menu? We'll get your shoulders on board and spine under control. Healthy joints, better movement, heavier lifts. In that order, always.
Stick with it, and here's what starts to change: your squat gets deeper, your deadlift gets heavier (and safer), and planks turn into push-ups. And, more importantly? Things like carrying luggage through the airport, keeping pace on a hike, getting up off the floor without a running start — all of it starts to feel easy again.
And that's the whole point of Mobility Strength — building a body you can rely on when it comes to living the life you want.
New to Mobility Work?
No problem! Give my Intro to Mobility Routine a try (no equipment needed!) so you can walk into class already knowing what to expect from the first 20 minutes.
New to Strength Training?
Some prior strength training experience is recommended. And all good if it's been a while! But if you're brand new to lifting, please check out our Strength Training for Beginners class.
